We couldn’t just stop at interviewing the team leader, now, could we? We also have the dish on Brant Suter, our unofficial second-in-command!
How long have you lived in the Harrisonburg area?
The short answer is since 1993 — my freshman year at James Madison University. However, I was born in Bridgewater, VA, and lived in the Shenandoah Valley through early elementary school. My family moved to the DC area, but Harrisonburg was always my “second” home growing up. I would stay for a good portion of the summer months with my grandparents and friends. My last name, Suter, is a Valley name — all of my immediate family, grandparents, etc. are from this retion and I consider the Valley my true home.
What did you do before real estate?
Five days after graduating from JMU I took a managemen position with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I managed several branch offices throughout the Valley for nearly nine years.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in real estate?
My wife and I actually bought our first home through Chris about three years ago. Chris and I hit it off during the course of the transaction. I was impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail as he assisted us throughout the home buying process. When he approached me with the idea of forming a real estate team where he could better serve his clients and expand his business — I literally jumped at the opportunity.
What is your role on the team?
My primary role is to assist our buyer clients throughout the home buying process. This begins with a one-on-one discussion of cleints’ needs and wants. After establishing our search parameters, my goal is to stay on top of our local real estate market to give our cliets the opportunity to be the first in the door of a new listing that hits the market. Once we find the right home, I provide assistance with writing the offer, setting up the home inspection, lending referrals, etc.
What do you love about your job?
I have always enjoyed interacting with others. I take pleasure in not only helping my clients through the home buying process, but getting to know them. Many of my clients have become friends!
Favorite outdoor dining in Harrisonburg?
The rooftop at Dave’s Taverna. The views of Downtown Harrisonburg are fabulous!
