A few months ago, the development of a downtown hotel and conference center was being discussed, but because of disagreements about how to finance the project, it was put on hold indefinitely. Since June, though, the City of Harrisonburg and the JMU Foundation have revisited this discussion and have tentatively come to an agreement, pending final approval from City and Foundation attorneys on the updated contract language.
A public hearing will take place on October 14. Project details and associated documents will be presented at this time.
