Springtime in the Shenandoah Valley delivers unmatched beauty with Eastern Redbuds, Tulips, Daffodils, and lush green foliage popping out after a long, harsh winter. One of the first celebrations of this welcome season is the Dayton Redbud Festival. If you’ve never been, you simply must go. The whole family will enjoy wagon rides, live music, a food court, antique car show, grassy picnic areas, arts and crafts vendors, and more!
A couple years ago, we got a free Redbud sapling at this festival, planted it in a clay pot, later transplanted it to our backyard, and it is thriving. We have yet to see the brilliant pink blooms on it because it is still so young, but even the foliage is lovely during the spring and summer months. (And it may or may not be growing slightly crooked because it may or may not have gotten accidentally run over by someone. I’ve always been a fan of unique characteristics!)
