The U.S. Government recently passed the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. It says that the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit “makes a qualifying individual or a couple, who is a first-time homebuyer of a principal residence in the United States from April 9, 2008 through April 1, 2009 eligible for a tax credit not to exceed $7,500.” (Division C, Title 5)
