There’s nothing like some cold weather to herald the coming of the Holidays. While you’ve been busy pulling out the scarves, gloves, warm blankets, winter decorations, and Thanksgiving dinner recipes, Harrisonburg has been prepping for the Holidays as well. We’ve compiled a short list of Thanksgiving week happenings in the ‘Burg.
Before the craziness of mashing potatoes, hosting family, and Black Friday chaos begins, take a moment to relax at Friendly City Food Co-op while getting a massage and listening to soothing music at their Relax and Shop event the day before Thanksgiving. Aaaahhhh….

Then, start off your Thanksgiving morning with an invigorating run in the Rocktown Turkey Trot.
Completing this 4-mile course will absolutely justify that extra helping of buttery mashed potatoes and at least one more slice of pie. Plus, if you have kids, make it a family affair with the Gobble Gobble Kids Dash around Court Square.
The races take place early enough in the morning to allow plenty of time to get back home for Thanksgiving dinner.
Once you sleep off all the food and family festivities, it’s time to start shopping for Christmas! Harrisonburg has some amazing local shops that can help you with your Christmas list.
November 28th is national Small Business Saturday, but why not start early and visit some of our local shops during your shopping frenzy on Black Friday?
To really get into the Holiday mood, check out Gypsy Hill Park’s Annual Celebration of Holiday Lights. It runs from November 23 to January 1st from 5-11pm each evening.
And, you can take your child or furry friend to get pictures with Santa at the Valley Mall in plenty of time for your Christmas card.
Well, Harrisonburg, it looks like it’s time to bundle up and get our Holiday spirit on!
We’ll be open at the House of Clues escape rooms Thursday thru Sunday this week! If you’re looking for some fun, see our schedule at harrisonburgescaperoom.com. The mysteries and games never stop at our House!
