If I had to pick the most important factor in selling a home, it would be photography — hands down. (In this slow market, 2nd would be pricing.) 21st-century home buyers shop primarily on the internet, and the photos they see are what they use to rule a property in or out when they are making a list of homes they want to see. Realtors are also heavily influenced by photos when they are sifting through the Multiple Listing Service on behalf of a client.
Getting great photography is paramount when trying to sell a home. If the front yard of the home slopes upward, then the listing agent needs to get a ladder. (I sometimes stand on the roof of my car, though I am getting too old for that. Not to mention I look a little ridiculous.) If that’s not high enough, then the cavalry needs to be called in… David Showalter with Ville View.
This is a longer-than-necessary wind-up to the real purpose of this post, which is to share a hilarious collection of photos with you. A Realtor in Saskatoon (that’s in Canada) shares my convictions about real estate photography, and that’s why he put together The Unbelievably Bad Real Estate Photos Hall of Fame. It’s a virtual tour of abysmal photos from real listings, with his commentary. Enjoy.
