Across the street and a block south of our downtown office, a brilliant hands-on learning mecca that inspires creativity in children of all ages invites you to explore. Harrisonburg’s very own children’s museum, aptly named Explore More Discovery Museum, provides a fun indoor getaway while also highlighting the history (and awesomeness) of our local community. Where else in the area can you play doctor in an ambulance, shop in the farmers market, milk Bessie the cow, change a tire, complete science experiments, perform on stage, deliver a news story, climb a tree, and craft in a one-stop creative “shop?” Nowhere. That’s where.
And what’s better than all the fabulous exhibits? Programs and classes, birthday party space, the Discovery Store where you can shop for great gifts and toys, and their capital campaign for future expansion to a second floor with 8 new exhibits, and third floor with a multipurpose space for educational programs and special events.
A hint about these new interactive galleries: culinary arts, quarry, airplane, movies, music.
Go ahead… explore a little!
