Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. I’m sure most of you have started making plans for the big day. Many of us have fond memories of sitting down with our loved ones to give thanks and share a fantastic meal during the Thanksgiving holiday. Along with meticulously planning the menu, gathering the recipes, and prepping the dishes, decorating the table is high up on the list of important tasks to complete. It doesn’t’ have to be complicated just keep a few key things in mind when decorating the table.
Incorporate Traditions //
What traditions does your family share during the meal? Try to incorporate those into the tablescape if possible. Add a note card and pens if your tradition is to share what you’re most grateful for this year. You can also add a medium sized white pumpkin to the centerpiece and have everyone write on it to add a personal touch to the decor.
Use Texture //
Create layers with the table linens. Using different textured fabrics adds loads of interest to the table design. Adding in a coarsely woven fabric with a fine linen, for instance, can add a more rustic, less formal feel. You don’t just have to use just one table cloth you can add several and even use a runner or individual placemats as well.
Use a Theme //
Picking a theme and carrying it throughout the tablescape design can add a lot of drama and impact to the experience. If you like a modern look, keep it simple and clean by just using a few well-placed succulent plants and a bowl of unshelled mixed nuts.
Make it Personal //
Using name cards at each place setting is an added bonus.
Add a warm glow //
Don’t forget the lighting! Adding a few votive or pillar candles can make the space glow and look warm and welcoming.
Enjoy the Season //
Fall offers so many wonderful scents, colors and textures and Thanksgiving is a perfect time to bring all those together. Make sure to incorporate what you love most into the design.
